I remember chatting with mom about this Mommy and Me Session about how much she had been wanting to capture some beautiful memories of her princess. Once our little ones hit the one year mark, I think we all start realizing our kiddos are growing… really growing and if we do not take a few moments to capture them at that stage, then time unfortunately does not move back. These little nuggets just keep on growing, learning new skills, moving around at lightening speeds. First, they learn to sit down and a whole new world opens up but soon enough, that milestone is quickly replaced by the fast-paced crawling stage. But that does not last long either and after a few days of finding them under chairs or behind plants, they all of a sudden being to stand up and now the world is really different, both for them and for the parents. I often tell my moms and dads that if you want to capture those first steps, then it is important to really do it when babies are taking three or four steps and falling down, three or four steps and falling down. The reality is that as soon as they take those three steps, things move really very very fast and in less than a month, they will be walking comfortably everywhere.
Sure enough, if you ask this mom about how fast time has gone by since her baby girl was born she will tell you “too fast”. Because after those first steps comes the running around. The exploration phase. The time when little ones marvel at blocks and big legos, bells and shinny glitter. The time when the world is full of magic. So mommy, these are the memories of this moment and there will be so many more. It does not matter if the light is perfect, or the kiddos are smiling or if your hair looks good or even if the clothes are ideal. What matters is that they are your memories of her. But please, like I always tell my moms, make sure you also create memories for your child. These are even more important than yours. In these memories, you need to be in the images. In all of them!
What a super sweet session! Love all of these. Time really does just keep moving on. It’s so important to capture these moments.
