FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do Studio Sessions differ from Outdoor Sessions?

My natural light studio is truly beautiful and it offers comfort and privacy while showering images with wonderfully soft and creamy tones.  The possibility of changing outfits offers a nice variety to your images. Whether the day is sunny, cloudy or rainy, the light in the studio is always amazing.

Outdoor Sessions during sunset have the wonderful glow of the golden hour and they look organic and natural. Since this session takes place outdoors, changing outfits is not possible.  Rescheduling may be necessary depending on weather conditions.

The Full Maternity Session that combines both in studio and outdoor images offers both the creaminess and privacy of the studio and the natural feel of an outdoor location.  These images are shot back to back during the day and not during sunset. The outdoor location is in close proximity to the studio (below is an example of a Full Maternity Session shot both in my studio and outdoors).

Can my husband and/or other children be present in the images?

Absolutely, both for the Mini Maternity Session and the Full Maternity Session.  Often times, families with more children choose the Full Maternity Session that combines both outdoors and in studio images and this allows them to capture more private images of mom alone in the studio and more candid family portraits outdoors.

Will I have access to your wardrobe?

Yes for studio sessions. Wardrobe consultation is provided after booking but you are also more than welcome to choose from my extensive collection of maternity gowns and tops. Most of the images you see on my maternity portfolio and blog posts are moms wearing pieces from my studio wardrobe.

I am self conscious about the way I look right now. Can you help me?

I want you to know, I understand many of the concerns expecting moms have about their own bodies, so I will be guiding you through favorable posing angles during the session and closely working on details through the editing process. After photographing dozens of moms, I also have a profound understanding of light and how to use it to emphasize your personal glow.

When is the best time for a Maternity Session and how far in advance should I book it?

Maternity sessions are held preferably between week 30 and 34.  Often times moms tell me they feel really big at 28 weeks but in reality, if it is your first pregnancy, your belly will be even rounder and bigger in a few more weeks. It is important not to try to rush your session before week 30 (unless you are pregnant with twins) as moms really look absolutely amazing when their bellies are really full and round.  If you are only available during weekends, it is important to book your maternity session at least 2 or 3 months in advance as I have very limited availability on weekends.  If you are more flexible during the week, then booking your session 1 to 2 months in advance is recommended.
